Marvin Chow

Nike, Japan

"To bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete* in the world." This is the mission for the Nike Brand and coincidentally has been the cornerstone of Marvin Chows 14 year marketing career.

As Marketing Director, he currently overseas category brand management, marketing and strategy for Nike Japan including retail marketing, brand design, brand communications and sports marketing. In addition, he is responsible for the overall growth development for Nike Japans core business categories of Athletic Training, Womens Training and Basketball.

A 6 year Nike veteran, Chow previously worked as Marketing Director of Nike Korea and in Global Brand Management assisting in the development of future concepts and long term brand strategy.

Prior to Nike, Chow has had extensive experience in both sports and youth markets. His career includes work in marketing and general management, involving brands like Nickelodeon and Reebok as well as Internet startups that list Michael Jordan and Benchmark Venture Capital as investors.

In addition, Chow has lectured on digital marketing strategy at Boston College, Harvard Business School and spent a semester teaching at the Boston University School of Management.

Chow is a graduate of Boston College. He and his wife JiYoung currently reside in the Nishi-Azabu area of Tokyo, Japan. He enjoys playing golf, basketball and American football & … is a self-appointed Apple evangelist and curious george.

Geoffrey Dickman

DPCD, Australia

Geoffrey studied at the University of Auckland where he developed a passion for marketing and media. His career includes eight years in television; with four years heading the business marketing, sponsorship and events teams for TVNZ, the national broadcaster. A senior role at APN News & Media - NZ Publishing followed before moving to AGM Publishing as Director of Sales & Marketing. It was at AGM, publishers of influential design magazine, Urbis, which ultimately cemented his love of design and appreciation for a strong aesthetic.

He has also worked within advertising agencies as a brand and media strategist, most recently at Ogilvy. His experience has been recognised with invitations to judge at the NZ Advertising Effectiveness Awards, Media Awards and Sponsorship Awards on several occasions.

Geoffrey and his partner now reside in Melbourne, Australia with their two cats, Rosie and Fred. He is employed as a marketing & advertising manager within the Victorian State Government.

Sam Dunham

Freelance/Contract Design Director, Australia

Sam Graduated from De Montford University, UK, with a (BA)hons in Graphic Design, in 1991. Sam's broad experience spans two decades and three continents. Sam has worked in the UK, Australia and Singapore.

Learning her craft in London, she worked at agencies such as Ranch, HGV, Giant and Bostock and Pollitt. Sam has worked on global brands such as Orange, New Labour, Sabic, British Airport Authority, Mappin & Webb, British Airways and KPMG. Her scope of work ranges through art direction, catalogues, brochures, annual reports, signage, pos, identities and branding.

Leaving London in 1999 for warmer climes, Sam worked at Nova in Sydney from 1999 to 2002. In Sam's last year at Nova she won five agda awards including a Pinnacle, for her work with Jaeger Fine Papers and Websdale Printing. Whilst at Nova, Sam also worked on projects for Nike and the Australian Stock Exchange.

In 2002, Sam then became Creative Director at Kin, a boutique design company, who she rebranded, winning an agda award for the stationery. Whilst at Kin, Sam worked with clients such as Nokia, Showtime and Minolta.

Sam lived in and worked in Singapore for many years travelling through Asia and living the expat life, whilst running her own small branding company and freelancing for global branding agencies such as Brand Union and Fitch.

Returning to Sydney in 2009, Sam has just rebranded the City of Sydney Aquatic Centres, which will be rolled out in January 2010. Sam and her family now call Australia home.

Barry Geleit

RBI, UK

Barry Geleit has over 29 years experience working in the design industry, 26 of those working for Reed Business Information, one of the worlds largest B2B publishing companies. As Creative Director, Barry is responsible for their full service in-house design agency producing editorial design, web design, advertising, branding, event production, direct mail, broadcasting and a whole host of other design functions. His team have been responsible for the majority of the RBI portfolio designs and redesigns and more recently have been leading the way in the successful online design development for RBI.

Simon Hong

Re-, M&C Saatchi, Australia

Born in Seoul, 1969, Simon moved to Sydney 1983.

For the past 18 years, Simons philosophy has been to foster creativity that sets benchmarks. He is one of Australias most consistently awarded designers. With a Bachelor of Design, Visual Communications, 1st Hons from UTS, his work has featured in international design annuals and won numerous international and local awards.

After his role as design director at Moon Group he is now a founding partner and the creative director of Re-, the brand consulting firm for M&C Saatchis global network.

He plays an active role in the design community and was recently a speaker at AGIdeas Conference (Alliance Graphique Internationale). He regularly judges industry competitions and is currently sits on the Academic Advisory Board for University of Technology, Sydney.

Some of his recognisable branding work includes Sydney Symphony, Abu Dhabi Government and Qantas.

Jonathan James Lee

Sedgwick Richardson, Singapore

JJ brings immense expertise in design, advertising & publishing. With more than fifteen years experience, he has worked for design consultancies in Europe & Singapore. He also holds a judging seat on the New York-based Annual Report Competition (ARC) Awards panel.

He began his career in brand and design working for one of UKs leading design consultancies, where his clients included British Airways, BMW, Cartier, Ever Ready, Jaguar and Paul Smith. In Singapore, he helped build up a successful local design company before returning to work with a premier design consultancy in Ireland, where his Clients comprised popular British household brands such as Waterford Crystal, Bliss Lifestyle & Harrods Department Store.

More recently, JJ returned to Singapore and headed up the design teams at a leading design company, where he was instrumental in developing the strategic creative & business processes.

In Singapore, he has won major contracts and worked with numerous public and private sector Clients such as SATS, STB, Cisco, JTC, BCA, A*STAR, IRAS, BENQ and SONY Corp, NOL, PEARL Energy Limited, Saxo Capital Markets and TANGS.

Jason Little

Landor Associates, Australia

As a creative director at the Sydney office of Landor Associates, Jason is responsible for leading a team of designers and driving the creative vision of large scale identity projects.

With over a decade of design and branding experience, he has been a key figure in the successful creation and development of identity programs for many high profile clients spanning a diverse range of sectors. His knowledge and expertise covers a variety of disciplines, including corporate identity, corporate communications, environmental branding, packaging and digital design.

Jason is an active speaker and writer on design and branding. His work has won numerous design awards locally and internationally and has been featured in design publications and exhibitions throughout the world.

Jason holds a BA in architecture from Edinburgh College of Art in the United Kingdom, and is a member of D&AD, AGDA, AIGA and NY Type Directors Club.

Jimmy Neo

BBH, Singapore

Constantly pushing the envelope of form and function. Jimmy first foray into the world of advertising came after he graduated from Temasek Design School in Singapore in 2000, when he joined Saatchi & Saatchi Singapore as a Designer. There, he made his mark with his innovative interpretation of communication design and steadily rose up the ranks in the industry.

In 2003, Jimmy decided to widen his horizons and headed to Beijing to join Saatchi & Saatchi as Head of Design. There, he led a creative team, inspiring them with his uncompromising standards for excellent design work and out-of-the-box ideas. He was also actively involved in strategic directions for both new and existing businesses such as Lexus, Toyota, Nestle and Xian-Janssen Pharmaceutical. In just 3 years, he was promoted to Creative Group Head, then to Associate Creative Director.

He returned to Singapore in 2005, joining JWT as Creative Group Head. During his 2 years there, he led the creative team for clients such as HSBC, Shell, Nestle and Unilever.

Over the years, he has accumulated acknowledgements from the various awards shows, namely from the One Show, AdFest, Singapore Creative Circle Awards, Singapore Hall of Fame, Singapore Outdoor Advertising Awards and Singapore Media Awards.

Today, Jimmy heads the design department in BBH Asia Pacific in Singapore as Design Director. He continues to push the boundaries, exploring new design concepts and canvas in developing impactful campaigns for clients such as Levis and Vaseline.

Andrew Smith

Prolife Foods, New Zealand

Currently Chief Executive for Prolife Foods, a NZ owned Food business, Andrew has a long background in Marketing in a number of countries.

Andrews career started in the UK with Procter & Gamble on their Graduate program. During the next few years Andrew had a number of roles within P&G, including looking after the laundry business in the Republic of Ireland.

Andrew and family then moved to Australasia and joined Unilever. Various marketing roles ensued, based in both Sydney and Wellington.

In 2000, Andrew joined the New Zealand Dairy Board, which became Fonterra in the following year as a result of Industry consolidation. Andrews first roles for Fonterra were major international marketing projects, such as the development of Fonterras organics business and the development of the overall Fonterra strategy. Andrew then moved back to operational line management when he was appointed General Manager of Fonterras Meadow Fresh business, one of the Top 5 Brands in the New Zealand grocery market. In 2005, following further industry consolidation, Andrew became General Manager of Marketing and R&D for Fonterra Brands NZ. Fonterra Brands NZ has 3 of the Top 20 Grocery brands [Anchor, Mainland, Fresh n Fruity] in NZ and is the 2nd largest FMCG company in NZ. As part of this role, Andrew was involved in a number of brand campaigns and design makeovers.

In 2009, Andrew left Fonterra for Prolife Foods. Prolife Foods is one of NZs largest NZ owned Food companies, with strengths in Nuts, Dried Fruits and Nutritious Snacks.

Richard Stayte

LloydNorthover Yeang, Singapore

Having earned his design education working his way up through various London design shops in the 80s and 90s, Richard spent over 10 years at Conran Design Group, rising to Creative Director. One of the original commercial design studios, founded in 1956, Conran Design Group provided a unique and rich heritage in consumer and retail branding; and a hard earned reputation for originality and creativity to maintain. It was here that Richards long held belief that creativity and commerciality are complementary rather than contradictory provided all who work with him a powerful and pragmatic platform from which to approach creative challenges. He sees his role as one to encourage, challenge and cajole clients and designers alike to consistently deliver innovative and relevant solutions that meet the needs of both the consumer and of the business.

A member and judge of D&AD his work has been awarded by DBA (Design Effectiveness), Design Week BenchMarks, Marketing & Brand and Retail Interiors. Notable projects include Global Brand management for Shell International, Visual Identity and advertising for Molton Brown and the World Cities Gallery for the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden, London.

Richard is currently Creative Director at the Singapore office of London based global network LloydNorthover Yeang, running a thriving multinational creative team spanning brand strategy, experience and communication. Working on regional and global projects across a wide sector base, he is enjoying the challenges of designing for the dynamic emerging Asian markets, and of building a truly integrated design offering.
